Economic Development Study for the Airport Sector

During the regular council meeting held on April 7, the council awarded a mandate for the completion of an economic development study focusing on the airport sector.

This initiative aims to provide a detailed overview of the sector, taking into account its specific characteristics, its role within the community, as well as its strengths and challenges.

The mandate for this study has been entrusted to Mr. Mehran Ebrahimi, Ph.D., Full Professor in the Department of Management at the School of Management Sciences (ESG UQAM) of the Université du Québec à Montréal. He is a member of the International Network for Innovation and Foresight (r2ip) and heads both the Aerospace Management Research Group (GEME-Aéro) and the International Observatory of Aeronautics and Civil Aviation at UQAM. Mr. Ebrahimi notably developed the master plan for the development of the Sherbrooke Airport.

This economic development study is essential to ensure sustainable and balanced growth of the sector, maximizing economic benefits while minimizing negative impacts.
